RFDS/Trauma Position available at Fremantle Hospital in 2009
A new position has recently become available at Fremantle Hospital (Western Australia, Perth) to (ideally) commence from January 2009. Any senior registrar (ATY2 or 4th year trainee and above) is eligible to apply. It is a 12 month position involving 50% RFDS work and 50% Trauma/Anaesthesia Fellowship. Following the first 3 weeks training at RFDS the position will consist of 2 weeks doing retrieval medicine with the RFDS (including retrieval by plane, helicopter and jet) alternating with 2 weeks doing anaesthesia at Fremantle Hospital, most likely Trauma Fellowship. For ANZCA trainees this position would be accredited as 6 month anaesthesia training and 6 month non-anaesthetic, 'other' training.
Fremantle Hospital is a tertiary, teaching hospital located within the port city of Fremantle. It offers a wide range of anaesthetic experience including cardiothoracic surgery, major trauma, endocrine surgery, airway lists, major general surgery, urology, orthopaedics, as well as obstetrics and paediatrics.
